Basic Hi Fi guide: Understand of 2.0, 2.1, 5.1, 6.1, and 7.1 Channel Systems

October 9th, 2009

2.0 Channel Stereo Systems

This is a basic stereo system consist of 2 speakers for left and right channel sound delivered from stereo amplifier or receiver.

2.1 Channel Stereo Systems

This is just one additional subwoofer speaker added on the 2.0 stereo systems, the .1 Low Frequency Effects provides very low bass for music sources and special effects on DVD movie sound tracks, hence it contains 3 speakers.

5.1 Channel Home Theater Systems
This is currently most popular system for Dolby Digital 5.1 and/or DTS 5.1 Home hi-fi entertainment. The five-point-one channels consist of 5 channels of sound which are left and right, like a stereo system, a center channel for movie dialog or music vocals and on-screen sound, and left and right surround channels, for special effects and surround sound plus one subwoofer channel. Hence there are total 6 speakers to handle the movie theater sound or multichannel music ( DVD-Audio and SACD discs) in your home. This combination produces a sound field that delivers the users with sound coming from in front of and behind.

6.1 Channel Home Theater Systems

With one additional rear-center speaker add on the 5.1 system, the 6.1 system consist of 3 front and 3 rear speakers and it delivers an even more enveloping surround effect than a 5.1-channel system. Some DVDs are encoded with 6.1 channel Dolby Digital EX and DTS-ES sound, and can be played back on this type of system.

7.1 Channel Home Theater Systems

Today’s high-def disc formats can support more detailed audio. Now most Blu-ray Disk players support 7.1 audio formats, and offer high-quality, lossless surround sound.

7.1 Hi Fi System have three front channels, two surround channels and two surround-back channels, plus a subwoofer channel. The additional rear surround channels provide more detailed surround effects than 5.1 and 6.1 Dolby Digital and DTS and will also support Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD (High Resolution).

What is website?

July 23rd, 2009

Now in front of your eyes, the staff appears on the web browser is a web page. The actual web page is a file that is stored in certain computer called web server which may locate on everywhere in the world, and this computer must be connected with the Internet.

Web page is identified and accessed through the Web site address (URL), when we enter the URL address on web browser, after a period of rapid and complex programming process, web page file will be transferred to your computer, and then be displayed by the web browser to show to you.

Elements of the web page
Text and picture are the two basic elements for web page. You can simply read as: text, which is the content of web pages, images, which is the beautiful decoration. In addition, the web page can also include other elements such as animation, music, programs and so on.

Check source code of web page
Move mouse pointer on web page and right-click, select menu “View source”, you can see the original source code through notepad. You Can see that the source code of web page actually is just a plain text file, through a variety of tags to describe (such as fonts, colours, size) the page text, image, form, sound and other elements, and internet browser can interprets these tags and generates web page for you to see on the screen now.

What is “static web page” and “dynamic web page”?

Static web page:
The static Web page is built from HTML syntax to write the page file, and then create a hyperlink to other web pages or other files. However, the content of static web page can not be automatically updated on the server, and web master needs to download the web page file and update it manually to change the content. Most of old fashion and low-budget websites are built from static web pages.

Dynamic web page:
The dynamic web pages provide users with functions to interact with the web server, to enter information to update or add information on the server and then respond to the user side. Web designers will often design a web page with forms, and allow users to enter information using this form, and then server can process the requested form and returns the information to user. Such design apply to all the e-commerce website with shopping cart, member registration, Content management system (CMS) etc.. And most high-budget e-business website or company website with CMS are build from dynamic web pages.
